How to Care for Plastic Fishing Worms
Plastic fishing worms are the weapon of choice for freshwater anglers, particularly when they're after largemouth bass. For ease of use, realism and fish-catching results, soft plastic worms are tough to beat in the crowded field of artificial lures. Take care of these soft baits only takes a few minutes to prolong their life and stretch the angler's dollars so money spent on plastic worms can be devoted to some other fishing expense.

1
Remove hooks and rigging from worms after fishing.
-
2
Rinse plastic fishing worms in clean, cold water after every use and air dry the lures on paper towels.
-
-
3
Repair any nicks, cuts and tears with a drop of Super Glue applied to one side of the worm. Press and hold the pieces together for 15 seconds until the glue sets.
-
4
Place the worms in resealable plastic bags, organized by size and shape. For example, curly-tailed worms can go in one bag to keep them separate from plastic nightcrawler baits, making the lures easier to use in the field.
-
5
Add several drops of scented worm oil to each bag of plastic baits, then seal the bag and shake it several times to distribute the oil and lubricate the worms.
-
6
Store the bags in a cool, dry place such as a tacklebox. Avoid leaving bags of plastic worms in direct sun, especially inside a vehicle where a stash of plastic baits can turn into a blob of colored jelly on a hot summer day.
