A Special-Occasion Umbrella
-
1
Create a romantic trim for a wedding-day umbrella. Glue a two- to three-inch wide strip of lace around the outside of the umbrella, so that it hangs in a way reminiscent of a bridal veil. Be sure the umbrella is white or a coordinating color of the bridal party.
-
2
Attach crystals or beads to the umbrella in various designs and patterns. The beading will add a great deal of detail as well as an expensive look to the umbrella. Ensure there is a clear design or pattern to the layout of the beads in order to look well organized and meticulously planned.

For a burst of color or a whimsical look, glue some flowers to the umbrella. Establish a clear pattern for the flowers in order to keep them from looking strewn about. The flowers will be best suited atop of a white or transparent umbrella.
Decorating a Functional Umbrella

Decorate the inside of an umbrella to avoid deterioration from the weather. Keep decorations flat, such as photos, newspapers or fabric, in order to ensure the umbrella will still close properly. Choose your given medium, such as a newspapers or magazines, and glue interesting or visually pleasing pages to the inside of a transparent umbrella. Cover with clear plastic lamination to help preserve it.

5
Glue buttons to the outside of the umbrella to create a pattern. Buttons will likely be able to bear the rain and weather elements without losing any of their integrity. Choose colorful buttons or buttons to coordinate with the color of the umbrella. Consider various patterns or stripes for an intricate look.
