Constructing a Cheerleader Costume
-
1
Find or purchase a solid-colored sweater or sweatshirt. With colored tape, tape a large "V" to the front top of the sweater for "varsity." For additional accent, outline the "V" with tape as well. Place two strips of tape straight down from the shoulders to the middle of the torso, then two more pieces connecting the two lines in a point in the lower middle of the sweater. The "V" should be in the center of the design.

Find or purchase a plain, solid-colored skirt to match or coordinate with the sweater. Cut large panels or pleats in the skirt. Across the hem, add a pop of color by taping a border to the bottom hem using colored duct tape. Wear the skirt over spandex shorts.

Cut a handful of strips of colored yarn or strips from a colored plastic bag. Glue the pieces into the inside of a cardboard toilet paper roll to create a pom-pom. Paint the outside of the roll to coordinate with the rest of the costume. Repeat process for the second pom-pom.

4
Cut a large semicircle from a poster board to create a megaphone. Roll the paper into a funnel shape and secure with tape. Paint or decorate the megaphone to match the rest of the costume.
