How to Make Paper Perforations

Save

When you want to add detail to a paper craft or have the ability to split one sheet of paper into several, perforated edges are a nice touch. You do not need to rack your brain and blow up your wallet trying to find the perfect tools. All you need are a few basic craft supplies and a handful of directions. Once your paper has the small perforated details you were looking for, you can move on with your project.

Things You'll Need

  • Ruler
  • Tracing wheel
  • Thumbtack

Perforate the Paper

  • Place the ruler on the paper where your perforations will be. Make sure your ruler line is straight so when you tear the paper at the perforated edges, it rips easily.

  • Roll the tracing wheel back and forth only once alongside the ruler. Make sure you press hard enough to leave indentations in the paper, but not rip the paper apart.

  • Punch holes further into each perforated hole using a thumbtack.

  • Fold and tear the paper apart along the dotted line, or perforation, as needed.
