1
Moisturize. Keeping hair generously moisturized is important as the hair begins to gray. Use deep-conditioning treatments. Homemade moisturizing treatments and dietary supplements can help to add moisture to the hair shaft both internally and externally, ultimately leading to smoother, softer, more manageable gray hair.

Add some color. Adding color to the hair helps to smooth the hair shaft making it appear softer and less frizzy. But chemical dyes can have long-term negative effects on the hair making it drier and coarser over time. To add color and moisture to the hair, try coloring it with a natural hair dye like henna, which contains no ammonia and is not damaging to the hair. In fact, henna actually conditions and coats the hair shaft with proteins, making it softer and more manageable.
