How to Polish an Armstrong Vinyl Floor

With daily usage, your Armstrong vinyl floor can grow dull and lose the luster it had when first installed. Vinyl is a durable material and easy to maintain, but it is also susceptible to forming a film over the surface if introduced to certain types of cleaners or liquids. Polishing an Armstrong vinyl floor is a two-step process that involves removing the dulling film from the surface of the vinyl and then restoring the shine to the vinyl floor with floor polish.

Things You'll Need

• Broom or vacuum
• Ammonia
• Gallon-size bucket
• Mop
• Soft towel
• Armstrong Shinekeeper Polish

Instructions

1. Sweep or vacuum the floor to remove dust and dirt.

2. Pour one cup of ammonia into a gallon-size bucket and add 1/2 gallon of cool water to the bucket.

3. Mop the vinyl floor with the ammonia solution. Ammonia removes soap or wax that can create a film on your floor and dull the surface.

4. Rinse the floor with cool water and dry the floor with a soft towel.

5. Apply Armstrong Shinekeeper Polish to your floor to restore the shine. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for application.

Tips & Warnings

• Test the ammonia cleaner on an inconspicuous area of your flooring before mopping the entire floor with the solution. If you find the ammonia streaks or discolors your floor, purchase a stripper/cleaner recommended for use with your flooring.

• Wear gloves to protect your hands when cleaning.
