How to Kill Lice With Brown Soap
Brown soap--or more specifically, soap containing neem oil--is very effective in treating lice, and also has antiseptic qualities. But using neem oil directly can smother lice as well, and may be an easier way to drive lice up out of the scalp, and an easier way to then comb them out. Pine tar brown soap is another possible treatment, since its consistency can suffocate the lice if applied for a long enough period of time.

Tips & Warnings
Consider using neem oil directly rather than in soap form, since it can be a more effective way to suffocate the lice. Dilute the neem oil with twice as much olive oil, mixed in a two-to-one ratio. Rather than rinse the oil out after a short period of time, for best results, leave the oil on your scalp and wear a shower cap overnight while sleeping. Since the oil may run, place an old towel on your pillow and wear an old T-shirt. This approach does not require as many treatments each week, but should still be repeated over the course of three weeks to ensure you remove any lice that hatch later.
Lice can re-infest a decontaminated scalp from infested clothing, bedding, combs and hair clips. Therefore, treat your environment at the same time you begin delousing with soap. Launder these items in the washer and dryer at the hottest settings, or soak them in boiling water. Place items that cannot easily be laundered, such as plush toys and headphones, in sealed, airtight plastic bags for two weeks to starve lice to death.
