How to Blind Carbon Copy Large Email Lists

To reduce spam and protect the privacy of people on a large email list, Internet courtesy dictates that email to groups of people should be sent as a blind carbon copy. This allows everyone on the list to receive and review an email, but the identities and addresses of the people on the list remain hidden from all but the sender. Almost all email utilities offer a blind carbon copy feature that can be accessed through one of the menu tabs at the top of the screen.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the email software on the computer and click "New Message."

    • 2

Click the "View" tab at the top of the screen and choose "All Headers" to display a BCC (Blind Carbon Copy) field on the top, left-hand side of the email template.

    • 3

Paste the large email list into the BCC field for the email. Do this by opening the file containing the list and copying the entire list by clicking the right mouse button, highlighting the listing and choosing "Copy." Then click on the BCC field, press the right mouse button and choose "Paste" to place the email list in the BCC field.

    • 4

Compose the message and click the "Send" button to deliver the email to a large list without anyone knowing the identities of the other recipients.
