How to Create a Curtain Rod Canopy
A canopy bed is the dream of many little girls, but it can be prohibitively expensive. A homemade curtain rod canopy can be even better than a commercial version, as you can choose what kind of fabric to hang on it. Traditional floaty white sheers may be perfect for some people, but your girl might want a flower print or other fabric on her canopy. Encircling three sides of the bed, a curtain canopy can be a fun and easy addition to bedroom decor. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure the length of the bed and purchase two curtain rods this length or shorter. Measure the width of the bed and purchase one curtain rod as close to this length as possible. Purchase curtain rod bracket sets for each rod.
-
2
Attach one set of brackets for the shorter curtain rod on the ceiling above the very head of the bed. Use butterfly bolts or the hardware that came with the brackets to fix them to the ceiling securely.

-
3
Attach the brackets for the longer rods along each side of the bed, beginning at the head of the bed and going toward the foot. Use the same hardware method as in step 2 to secure the brackets to the ceiling.
-
4
Slip the shorter curtain onto the shorter curtain rod and attach the rod to the brackets at the head of the bed. Slip the longer curtains onto the longer rods and install them to the ceiling above the sides of the bed.
-
5
Pull the curtains on the side toward the head of the bed for easier access to the bed, then slide the curtains back toward the foot of the bed for more privacy.
