How to Highlight Your Hair Naturally With the Sun
Highlighting hair is different than dyeing because the desired result is a blend of various colors that better represents healthy hair's natural appearance. High-dollar professional chemical highlights are common, but there is also a completely free highlighting source right outside: the sun. According to hairhighlights.com, applying natural highlights is a harmless way to enhance beauty and add depth and dimension to your hair texture. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Boil one cup of water, remove from heat and add the chamomile tea bag. Allow to steep for three to five minutes, then place in refrigerator to cool.
-
2
Pour chamomile tea, lemon juice and remaining one cup water into spray bottle. Shake well to combine all ingredients.

-
3
Spray the mixture throughout hair using the spray nozzle. If you want to cover your hair with highlights, spray your entire head, saturating every strand. For varied highlights, separate five to seven 1/2-inch to one-inch sections of hair, saturating only these sections.
-
4
Activate color by sitting in full sun for at least 30 minutes. Sit for a shorter period of time for fewer highlights; increase time for more highlights. Your results will also depend on the darkness or lightness of your hair before highlighting. For best possible results, allow the sun to dry your hair naturally.
-
5
Rinse hair completely and apply a deep conditioner to moisturize your hair. Lemon juice is highly acidic and can dry out your hair. A conditioning treatment will restore any lost moisture to your hair. Repeat conditioning treatment at least once a week for healthy hair.
-
6
Avoid blow drying your hair as this will dry out the cuticle and strip your hair of its shine. Because natural highlights are products of healthy, shiny hair, you want to avoid all processes and products that could affect the health of your hair.

Tips & Warnings
For red hair, substitute beet juice for the lemon juice and chamomile tea. Prepare, apply and treat mixture exactly as above.
Do not apply the lemon juice directly to your scalp because it will burn and then dry out your scalp. Spray it onto your hair only and work it into the rest of your hair.
