Instructions

    • 1

Compile the scores of your last five rounds of golf. These scores must be from courses that feature 18 holes.

    • 2

Get the golf course rating and the slope rating for each of the courses you played over your past five rounds. You can find this information on the scorecard from almost any golf course.

    • 3

Take your score from each golf course you played and subtract the course rating, then multiply that number by 113.

    • 4

For each number you arrive at after multiplying by 113, divide it by the slope rating of each course. This number is known as the differential of each round of golf that has been played.

    • 5

Once you have your five differentials, take the lowest number and multiply it by .96. This number will be your golf handicap.

Tips & Warnings

  • Official USGA golf handicaps can be achieved only by playing USGA-authorized golf clubs or courses.

  • If a course that you have played does not have a course or slope rating on its scorecard, call the pro shop to get that information.

  • Some golf sites like golflink.com offer free handicap calculation.
