How to Make Flowers Out of Ribbons of Fabric
Ribbon flowers are delightful accessories for weddings, birthdays or any celebration. There's no need to rush out and buy expensive reels of silky ribbon to make the flowers; you can use scraps of fabric from past sewing projects. Instead of throwing out old shirts, cut them into strips for use in this fun project that will have everyone asking how you made these beautiful creations.

Baste the two sides of the fabric ribbon together, lengthwise. Start at the 1/4-inch seam end. When you have finished basting, cut the end of the thread, leaving 4 inches at the end.

Gently pull the thread, crumpling the flower together. Starting at the end where you started basting, tightly crumple the ribbon as you gently pull the thread. Tightly wind the flower together in a spiral, dabbing hot glue at the base of every complete circle of ribbon. Dab hot glue at the base of the end "petal."

5
Dab hot glue underneath the flower in the center. Insert a pipe cleaner 1/4 inch.
-
6
Dab hot glue at the base of the pipe cleaner, and attach one end of the green fabric strip. Tightly wind the fabric strip, completely covering the pipe cleaner. Trim the fabric at the top, dabbing hot glue to secure the end in place.

Tips & Warnings
Add some loops of green ribbon or fabric under the flower to make leaves.
Don't dab glue in the very center of the flower before you put the pipe cleaner in. The glue will harden and make it impossible for you to insert the pipe cleaner.
