How to Make a Naruto Cosplay

Cosplay is a fast-growing and fun pastime in which people create homemade outfits so they can dress up like their favorite Anime and Manga characters. While there are many websites that offer cosplay costumes for sale it is more satisfying to make your own costume. Naruto is the one of the most popular Manga and Anime series, and its young star has a great look that will be instantly recognizable to other fans.

Everything you need to make this costume can be bought at the local mall or gathered from materials in your own home. There are three key items that will make your Naruto costume stand out: Naruto's jacket, Naruto's headband and a pair of Naruto-style ninja sandals.

Things You'll Need

• Orange sweatshirt
• Synthetic fur (white)
• Red, white and blue fabric
• Scissors
• Fabric glue
• Black permanent marker
• Paper plate
• Metallic paint
• #2 Pencil
• Pair of blue socks
• Sandals

Instructions

MAKE NARUTO JACKET

1. Cut the hood off the orange sweatshirt.

2. Cut a strip of synthetic fur to use as a collar.

3. Attach the synthetic fur to the sweatshirt collar using fabric glue.

4. Cut a circle (6" diameter) out of the red fabric.

5. Draw a spiral design on the circle of red fabric with the marker

6. Cut a circle (3" diameter) out of the white fabric

7. Draw a spiral design on the circle of white fabric.

8. Affix the white circle onto the left sleeve of the orange sweatshirt using fabric glue.

9. Put on your Naruto jacket.

MAKE NARUTO HEADBAND

1. Draw a rectangle (4" by 2") on the paper plate with the #2 pencil.

2. Paint the rectangle with the metallic paint.

3. Draw "bolt holes" on the four corners of the metallic rectangle with the magic marker.

4. Draw a spiral symbol on in the center of the rectangle with the magic marker.

5. Cut out the rectangle with the scissors.

6. Cut a strip of Blue fabric (6" by 12").

7. Affix the metallic painted paper to the blue fabric strip using fabric glue.

8. Tie your Naruto headband onto your head and knot in the back.

MAKE NARUTO NINJA SANDALS

1. Cut the toes and heel off the blue socks.

2. Put on the socks.

3. Put on the sandals over the socks.

4. Enjoy your Naruto ninja sandals.

Tips & Warnings

• Keep a picture of Naruto nearby to refer to. Do a Google search for "Naruto" and you can find him in a number of poses.

• There are many cosplay websites that feature different fans versions of their favorite characters. If you are looking for inspiration a visit to one of these sites may be helpful.

• Young children should not handle scissors or fabric glue without parental supervision.
