How to Erase All Contacts From the Blackberry Storm

Deleting contacts from your Blackberry Storm is quick and easy. There are three methods you can use. You can delete contacts using your computer and the software that came with your Blackberry. You can delete contacts by "wiping" the memory from the Blackberry itself, or you can manually delete contacts entry-by-entry. Read through these simple steps to determine the method that is best for you.

Things You'll Need:

  • Blackberry Storm
  • Blackberry Storm USB cable
  • Computer with Blackberry sync software installed

    Erasing Contacts with a Computer Connection

  1. Step 1

    Connect your Blackberry Storm to your computer using a Blackberry's USB cable.

  2. Step 2

    Open the Blackberry's Desktop Manager on your computer.

  3. Step 3

    Go to the Desktop Manager's Backup/Restore option, and then select "Advanced." You will see a split screen. On the left side is what you will backup from your Blackberry. The right panel shows existing databases.

  4. Step 4

    Highlight your Address Book database on the right panel. In the middle of the screen is an arrow pointing to the left panel. Click it, and your Address Book will be copied from your Blackberry to your computer.

  5. Step 5

    Click the clear button at the bottom of the screen once the backup has completed. This will erase all your contacts on your Blackberry.

    Save the backup once you are prompted to do so.

  7. Erasing Contacts Without a Computer Connection

  8. Step 1

    Select "Options" on your Blackberry screen.

  9. Step 2

    Select "Security Options," then "General Settings."

  10. Step 3

    Press Blackberry's "Menu Button" at the bottom of the device, and then select "Wipe Handheld."

  11. Step 4

    Select "Confirm." You will then be required to type in "blackberry," and then select the return button in order to complete the operation.

  12. Manually Deleting Contacts

  13. Step 1

    Go to your Contact List on the Blackberry.

  14. Step 2

    Highlight the first contact, and then select "Delete." You will be asked to confirm the operation.

  15. Step 3

    Repeat Step 2 for as many contacts as you want to delete.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always backup your data through Blackberry's Desktop Manager before deleting items from your Blackberry.
  • "Wiping" your Blackberry will erase not only your contacts, but also your calendar, messages, pictures, etc.
