How to Tint Tail Lights in a Chevy Caprice

Tinting your Chevy Caprice tail lights may or may not be legal depending on where you live. You should check with your state's laws before attempting this. Tinting the tail lights will soften the color of your tail lights and may make it more difficult for drivers behind you to see when you are braking. When you do tint your tail lights, it will be primarily for aesthetic purposes, but you still need to know how to do it properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the tail light housing and lay it face down on a flat surface.

    • 2

Remove the inside tail light housing light filter. These are usually red in color. You can leave them in but, depending on the color of the tint you are using, you may not get the desired effect you are looking for. Remove the inner lens color filter using a flat tip screwdriver. Pry the filter out of the housing.

    • 3

Clean the inside of the tail light housing with soap and water. Then dry it thoroughly with a lint-free towel.

    • 4

Spray an even coat of tail light tint over the inside of the Caprice's tail light lens. Allow the first coat to dry completely, then apply a second coat and allow it to dry.
