Maybe you've been using Microsoft Internet Explorer for years, but want to make the switch to Mozilla Firefox. The only problem: You've got tons of bookmarks, passwords, search history, and options painstakingly set in IE, and the notion of moving them over to Firefox seems like it would require a lot of replicated work. Not to worry! Firefox makes the process easy. This tells you how to do it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mozilla Firefox, any version (suggested version: 3.5/3.5.5)
  • Internet Explorer, any version (suggested version: 7 or 8)
  1. Step 1

Close Internet Explorer, and open up Mozilla Firefox. Go to the File menu and select Import. If you prefer keyboard shortcuts, you can press Alt+F to open the File menu, release the Alt key, and press I.

  2. Step 2

The Firefox Import Wizard will appear. You can simply click the Next button twice to keep all default import settings, or you can set the check boxes to tell Firefox exactly what you would like to import from Internet Explorer: Internet options, Cookies, Browsing history, Favorites, and so forth.

  3. Step 3

Click Finish. You're done! It's all been imported into Firefox. Pretty easy, right?
