Instructions

    • 1

Paint the edges of a plywood rectangle. Choose a plywood rectangle that corresponds to the size of the bulletin board you want to create. Lay newspaper on the floor of a well-ventilated room. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends providing plenty of fresh air when working with paint and other substances that may contain volatile organic compounds such as glue. Paint the edges of the plywood any color you desire.

    • 2

Cut a roll of cork. Unfurl a roll of cork on top of the plywood. Use cork that is at least 1/16-inch thick. Use a box cutter or razor to cut the cork to the dimensions of the plywood.

    • 3

Glue cork to plywood. Spray adhesive over one side of the cork and one side of the plywood. Firmly press the glued sides together. Align the edges and make sure the cork is completely flattened. Complete this step in a properly ventilated room.

    • 4

Attach corner guards. If the edges of the plywood are sharp, attach corner guards. As an alternative to corner guards, use a large picture frame to cover the edges of the plywood.

    • 5

Nail a sawtooth picture hanger into the plywood. Place the cork side of the board face down on the floor. Nail a sawtooth picture hanger into the top center of the plywood. As an alternative to the sawtooth mount, nail a ribbon to the top edge of the plywood, one nail on each end. Use a ribbon that is twice the length of the plywood.

Tips & Warnings

  • To make the bulletin board unique, paint the cork with a latex paint in the color of your choice.

  • Use paint markers or colored tape to decorate the cork.

  • Paint the edges of the plywood different colors.
