How to Dissolve Hard Candy: Science Project
The are different kinds of candy: Hard candy, soft candy, candy bars, candy squares and the list goes on. In terms of hard candy two of the most common types are the kind like peppermint cough drops and hard-brick chocolate. Both can be dissolved effectively and quickly. This can be done at home using only a few everyday kitchen tools. Does this Spark an idea?

Hard Candy

Place a little amount of water into a sauce pot. Only fill the pot enough water to cover the bottom of the pot.

Place the candy into the pot. If there are lots of candies needed to be dissolved, fill the water up just so they are covered.

Turn the stove burner on and place the pot on the burner. Keep the heat at medium low.

Stir constantly until all the candy is dissolved. This may take several minutes, but if the heat is too high, the sugar from the candy will burn. The candy will be completely dissolved into the water in no time.
Hard Chocolate

Fill a pot slightly less than halfway up with water. Place the pot onto the stove.

Put a Pyrex bowl on the sauce pot. Make sure it fits perfectly into the pot.

Turn the buner to high. Once the water begins to boil, pour the hard chocolate into the Pyrex bowl. Decrease the heat to a simmer.

Stir the candy constantly. Within a couple of minutes the candy will be melted.
