- Double batch of your favorite cake batter
- 2 tube pans
- Sharp serrated knife
- Thin metal spatula
- Icing
- Offset spatula

Fill in a Tube Pan Hole

Prepare a double batch of your favorite cake recipe. Fill two tube cake pans. Bake as appropriate for your cake recipe.

Remove bundt cakes from the pan immediately. Place the pan, pan-side down on a steaming hot wet towel, then invert to remove. Allow to cool completely. Use the same strategy on typical cakes baked in a tube pan.

Cool angel food cakes differently. Invert the pan by placing it on a wine bottle or similar. Allow the cake to cool for several hours before removing it from the pan. Use a thin metal spatula to loosen the cake as necessary to release it onto a plate, platter or cake stand.

Cut a tube shape from the second cake using a sharp serrated knife. Create a tube of cake slightly smaller than the opening in the the cake you will be decorating.

Coat the tube pan hole by filling in a thin layer of icing. Apply icing to the inner part of the hole in the tube cake, then insert the filler cake. Ice and decorate the cake as desired.
