For many people, some form of straightening technique is needed to achieve a straight hairstyle. In order to get straight strands, many search for alternate methods that do not require excessive heat and damage. One method which has provided adequate results for straightening includes wrapping wet hair before bedtime. This process can be completed while sleeping, allowing one to awake with straight hair without the time hassle and without the need to purchase expensive straightening tools.
Things You'll Need
- Detangling shampoo
- Straightening serum or hair lotion
- Bobby pins
- Wig cap or satin head scarf
Wash your hair with a detangling shampoo and rinse thoroughly. Follow with a softening conditioner, making sure to comb product through from root to tip. Rinse your hair.
Pat hair lightly with towel to remove excess water, making sure not to over-dry hair. Spray or dab on additional water if the hair loses too much wetness.
Apply straightening serum or hair lotion, of your choice. Look for ingredients that will add sheen and moisture to your tresses.
Part the hair by making a line across the head from ear to ear. Comb the top portion forward, allowing the hair to fall in front of your face.
Brush the hair in the front, moving toward the right while continuing to swoop the hair in a circular direction around the entire head. While brushing, add extra straightening serum or hair lotion for a more secure hold.
Pin any loose hair with bobby pins as you work your way around your head. Hair should be completely wrapped, and strands should not be bunched or tangled.
Position a wig cap and/or a satin head scarf, carefully, over the entire head to secure the hair underneath, making sure not to tie the scarf so tight that it becomes unbearable to sleep in.
Sleep well. Once awakened, comb hair down to a soft and straight finish.
