When you purchased your iPhone, the sales representative probably programmed your new phone's name for you. If you decide to give the phone to someone else, or simply desire to change the name that iTunes displays when the iPhone is connected, you can change the iPhone's name in a matter of a few moments. All you need is your computer with iTunes, your iPhone and your USB cable. Just a few clicks and keystrokes will change the name of your iPhone.
Things You'll Need
- USB cable
Power on your computer and allow it to boot up completely.
Connect your iPhone to the computer via the USB cable. The iTunes application will open. If iTunes doesn't automatically open, manually start your iTunes program.
Look at the left margin of the iTunes library and find your iPhone.
Move the mouse cursor over to the name of your iPhone and left-click your mouse. The iPhone's name will be highlighted and will blink.
Type in the new name of your iPhone and press "Enter" on your keyboard. Alternately, you can left click elsewhere on your iTunes library.
