How to Keep a Kindle in Its Case

Kindle is Amazon.com's wireless reading device that holds more than 1,500 periodicals. Kindle readers can take their personal libraries wherever they go and read from a single computer screen that fits between their palms. But traveling with the Kindle, whether to a coffee shop or on a trip abroad, means the Kindle must spend some time in a protective case. There are a variety of cases available to keep your Kindle safe.

Some cases provide hinges that lock a Kindle into place. Amazon.com offers a leather-bound case with a "patent-pending hinge" that keeps the Kindle secure, according to the product's online description. Shoe designer Cole Haan also offers a hinged cover that locks the Kindle into the case. Both have two locking hinges along the binding of the case.

Other cases secure the Kindle using straps. A memory foam pouch case by CaseCrown has four corner straps that you can slip the Kindle beneath. A similar one from M-edge allows the Kindle to rest in three leather pockets that look like photo corners and under one upper, right-hand strap.

Still other cases are made to be "skins" for the Kindle. Kroo and GelaSkins make a silicone skin case. You won't have the protective covering of a bound case, but the white frame of the machine will be protected from dirty fingers.
