How to Make Football Recruiting Videos
Recruiting videos can be a successful way to show off your football skills and highlight what you can do best for a college football team. As you make your video, keep in mind there are thousands of other football players like you doing the same. You need to make a very clear and concise video to differentiate yourself from others.

1
Tell your head coach you are interested in making a recruiting video. Ask him to make copies for you of your game videos, especially the ones where you performed very well. High school football teams usually have game footage from all their games, so obtaining game highlights will not be difficult. Once you have the footage, you will need to watch for specific plays or games that will enhance your recruitment. As a football player, you are familiar with what is noteworthy and what is average, but you may also want to ask your coach for his input about specific games and plays. He can help you pick things college coaches are looking for in a player.

Download your game footage onto a computer that can edit and burn DVDs. If you have VHS tapes from which you will need to take footage, you will need to have the proper cable you can use with your VCR to transfer the footage. Go to a local electronic store and ask an employee to find you the proper cable. Let him know what type of VCR you have, what type of computer you have, and what type of computer hardware and software you have for burning a DVD.

3
Compile short highlights for your video using DVD-making software. Make your recruiting video close to 10 minutes long. Do not make your video several hours long. You can keep extra footage to show coaches who are interested in your skills and request more footage.

Create an opening scene for your video by introducing yourself. Place a video camera on a tripod in front of you. Introduce yourself and explain what your role is on your football team. Tell your viewers your name, what year of school you are in, the school you attend and the position or positions you play. Tell the audience you will be highlighting your skills and attributes in the video they will be viewing. This opening scene should take no longer than 30 seconds. Your video should then immediately go into your game highlights.

Distribute your video to recruiters who come to your football games. Also send them to any recruiters who contact your coach for video highlights.
