Although most people who are trying to grow their hair out are women, plenty of men seek faster hair growth. Some men simply yearn for long hair, while others seek to overcome male-pattern baldness. For the most part, men can accelerate hair growth in the same way as women. Like women, men can use vitamin supplements, scalp massages, exercise, stress reduction and good nutritional practices to optimize hair growth. Although speeding up hair growth takes time and energy, with patience and consistency, it can happen.

1
Take B vitamins or eat foods high in B vitamins. Protein is the main substance in hair, and B vitamins help the body synthesize proteins. Although the most important B vitamins for hair growth are biotin, folic acid and niacin, all of the other B vitamins play an integral role since they work together as a team. Eat foods such as spinach, beans, oranges, whole grains, eggs and lean meats, which are all high in B vitamins.

2
Eat plenty of protein. The hair is made of protein, and the body needs protein to make more hair. You should eat high-quality sources of protein, such as meat, fish or dairy, since animal foods are the best sources of protein. If you're a vegan, eat nuts, flaxseed, quinoa, amaranth or soybeans (those foods are high in protein).
-
3
Massage your scalp every day. Hair massage stimulates blood circulation, which is an important factor for having healthy hair. When the blood is circulating actively, the red blood cells can carry nutrients to your hair follicles. If you have a dry scalp, use a sulfur ointment when you're massaging your scalp, since sulfur aids in hair growth.
If you have oily hair, use the balls of your fingers to massage your hair as you're shampooing it. You can also use a plastic hair massager to massage your scalp.
-
4
Exercise in moderation. Similar to scalp massage, exercise stimulates hair growth by improving your blood circulation. Exercise also releases good hormones into your body, such as endorphins, while lowering stress hormones (e.g., cortisol). High cortisol levels can induce hair loss.

5
Once you grow longer hair, maintain the new length by reducing breakage and split ends. Use a conditioning shampoo that will moisturize your hair. Use a deep conditioner with protein and moisturizers to stop breakage. Avoid using harsh chemicals in your hair, and stay away from heat.
