How to Name Albums on the iPod
Music files on the computer contain embedded information about the artists, song names and albums featured on the recordings. This system is called "tagging," and it works very well for keeping music organized--if the tags are entered. If you have ever downloaded a song and transferred it to your iPod only to find that nothing was displayed but the file name when the song was played on the iPod, you downloaded a song that was missing these tags. Use iTunes to edit the music files on your iPod and add album, artist and other information.

1
Connect the iPod to your computer using the USB cable. iTunes should launch automatically after a few moments. If it does not, launch it from the Start menu.
-
2
Click "Music" under the iPod icon on the left side of the iTunes window.

-
3
Click "Name" to sort the songs on your iPod by their titles. Songs that are missing their tags will be sorted by their file names; this should make them easier to find. If the songs that you need to add information for are named similarly, they should be grouped together.

Click on the first song that you need to add album information for. Hold the "Shift" key on the keyboard, and click the last song. All of the songs from the album will be highlighted. Right-click on any song and click "Get Info." A new window will appear with the title "Multiple Item Information."
-
5
Click the check box next to the "Album" field. Type the name of the album into the field. If any other fields need to be added that will be the same for all of the songs, such as the artist name or genre, add them the same way. Click "OK" when you are done. You may be asked to confirm that you want to change the information for multiple songs. Click "Yes."
-
6
Click on an individual song to highlight only that one. Right click on it, and click "Get Info." Click the "Info" tab, then click inside the "Name" box. Type the name of the song, and click "OK." Repeat this process for each song. When you are finished, the tags for each song on the album should be completely filled in.
