      Peel off the skin of the ginger root. Cut the ginger into two- to four-inch sections, and slice each section once lengthwise.

      Fill a medium-sized pot three-quarters full of water. Bring to a boil.

      Place the ginger pieces into the boiling water, and cover. Turn the heat down and let the ginger simmer for 30 minutes to an hour, depending how strong you like your tea.

      Turn off the heat, and remove the ginger pieces.

      Pour the brew into a mug and enjoy.

  • To sweeten the drink, add honey.
