How to Set Velcro Curlers to Add Volume
When you want to add volume to your hair without adding defined curls, Velcro curlers are the ideal choice. Velcro curlers attach to hair without any additional clips; however, if your hair is very long, you might need to add a bobby pin to each curler to secure it. Use large Velcro curlers on damp hair for a few minutes and the result will be hair with beautiful lift and volume. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Comb
- Clips
- Volumizing spray
- Large Velcro curlers
- Bobby pins (optional)
- Blow-dryer
- Hair spray

Comb your hair from the roots to the tips.

Separate your hair into sections for curling. Generally, when using curlers for adding volume and lift, you will only place curlers in the top third to half of your hair. Start with a section of hair on the top of your head and clip back the other sections.

Spray the top section lightly with volumizing spray.

Separate the top section into thirds or in half and comb through one section. Roll this section onto a Velcro curler, rolling the hair over the curler and not under it. Roll your hair around the Velcro curler until it rests tightly against your scalp. Roll the rest of the hair in the top section in the same way.

Unclip a section to the right of the rolled section. Spray this section of hair with the volumizing spray and then separate the hair into smaller sections for rolling. Roll the hair onto the Velcro rollers using the same technique. Then unclip a section to the left of the rolled section and use the same technique to spray and roll this section onto Velcro curlers.

Check to make sure all of the curlers are saying in place. If any are falling out, roll them again and secure the curlers with a bobby pin.

Turn the blow-dryer on to a medium setting and blow dry the curled hair. Direct the blow dryer especially at the roots of your hair. Stop blow-drying when your hair is dry.

Remove the curlers when you are certain your hair is completely dry. Turn your head upside down and gently run your fingers through your hair to incorporate the curls and soften them.

Use a comb to tease some of the curls gently if they need softening. This will also blend the hair together and make it appear sleeker.

Finger-comb your hair one more time and spray with hair spray to set the style.

Tips & Warnings
Use the largest Velcro curlers available to create volume instead of curls. Smaller curlers will create tighter curls and larger curlers will create volume.
