How to Create Superhero Logo Font

Comic books and comic book characters are popular with many people. Hand in hand with this popularity has been the emergence of a community of people who like to use 3D and 2D graphics programs to create their own comic books, which they either sell online or just post for free for other people to read and enjoy. One key to having a comic book that looks "real" is for it to have a superhero logo on the front or cover page. This logo most be in a large, bold stylized font. The best way to build such a logo is to use Adobe Photoshop.

Things You'll Need

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Open Photoshop. Select "File" and click "New." In the dialog that pops up make the pixel width and height what you want for your logo. Make the background "Transparent." This will allow you to place the completed superhero logo against a background in your comic book page. Now click "OK."

  • Select the "Text" tool from the toolbar. In the options at the top select the font style you want to use. It needs to be large and bold ("Impact" works well). Set the size of the font and the color. Now type in your text.

  • Click on the "Character/Paragraph" icon to bring up that panel. Highlight the text you typed and in the "Character" panel set the "Tracking" to 25 to spread the letters out a bit. Click on the "Character/Paragraph" icon again to close the panel.

  • Right-click on the text. From the listed options select "Warp Text." In the dialog that pops up change the "Style" to "Arc." With "Horizontal" selected change the "Bend" to 35 and the "Horizontal Distortion" to -35. Click "OK."

  • Click on the "FX" icon at the bottom of the "Layers" panel and select "Blending Options." Select "Drop Shadow" and make the "Blend Mode" "Normal", the "Opacity" 100, the "Angle" 0, the "Distance" 5, the "Spread" 20 and the "Size" 10.

  • Click on "Bevel and Emboss" and make the "Style" "Pillow," the "Depth" 32 and the size 10. Click "OK." Save your work as a PNG 24 file to preserve the transparency. You now have a superhero logo that you can place in any other document.
