Things You'll Need
- Black hair rinse
- Beach blond highlight color dye
- Highlight cap
- Comb
- Mild hair bleach kit
Instructions

1
Dye your hair completely black with a rinse color, as opposed to a permanent color. Permanent colors will cause the black to blend with the blond, creating a strange hue. The rinse will slightly come off when adding the blond highlights, creating a more natural color.
-
2
Comb your hair after the black hair dye rinse is complete. Place a highlight cap on your head. The highlight cap will have small holes in it to pull the hair through.
-
-
3
Pull small strands of hair through these holes using a comb. This can be quite tedious, so pull each section of hair slowly through the holes to avoid pulling and pain.
-
4
Mix the hair bleach according to the instructions on the package. Wear the rubber gloves that come with the kit to avoid getting the bleach on your hands.
-
5
Leaving the cap on, apply the mild hair bleach to lighten the strands of hair that were pulled through the cap. Leave the bleach on for as long as the directions state.
-
6
Wash the strands of hair that were just bleached. Shampoo the strands twice and then rinse.
-
7
Apply the shade of beach blond onto the strips of hair coming through the highlight cap with your brush applicator that came with the highlight kit. Follow the instructions on the box and rinse. Remove the highlight cap and add an after-color conditioner to your hair. Rinse and style your hair as usual.

Tips & Warnings
In time, the black hair dye will begin to fade and you will have to rinse your hair black again. The hair that was highlighted will take on a strange hue after you've rinsed black, so you will need to lift it back into a highlighting cap for re-highlighting, or you could re-rinse it all black again a few times and start over.
Consult a professional if the hair doesn't turn out right or if you are a novice at highlighting or dyeing your own hair.
