Tips & Warnings

  • Try to get to the urine stain as quickly as possible, as it is easier to remove a "fresh" stain than an older one. Specialized enzyme cleaners to remove cat urine are available in pet stores and can be effective in removal of cat urine from floors, but hydrogen peroxide is effective in removing residue and acidic materials that damage your floor. Test any cleaner (commercial or homemade) on an inconspicuous area of your floor before use to be sure it will not fade or damage the floor in any way. If the stain still cannot be removed, try sanding the stain away and resealing the floor to remove the stain.
