How to Clean the Fingers of a DE Swimming Pool Filter
A diatomaceous earth (DE) swimming pool filter is designed to remove dirt and debris from your swimming pool as the water cycles through the tank and around the filter. When your pool requires more than normal backwashing to maintain proper pressure, it is likely the DE filter needs cleaning. Failure to properly maintain the DE filter will result in less than adequate water filtering which can cause mold and algae issues in the pool. Cleaning the fingers of a DE swimming pool filter is a dirty job but not one that requires hiring a professional. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings
If the filter contains grease that does not wash off with the water hose, purchase a filter cleaner from a pool supply store that will loosen and remove the grease from the filter.
