How to Fix My Cross Cut Shredder
A cross cut shredder gives its user extra protection by cutting documents or other materials both horizontally and diagonally. Instead of creating long strips of shredded paper, it cuts into tiny, square-shaped pieces, making it nearly impossible for a document to be reassembled. Sometimes however, cross cut shredders can become jammed or have other problems with the motor. If the problem is with the motor, it may be covered under your warranty. Does this Spark an idea?

Unscrew the cover to the motor with your screw driver. Look inside the cutting mechanism to see if there are any additional jams of paper or other materials inside the unit. Carefully remove the jammed material with your tweezers.

5
Screw the cover back on the unit. Set the motor/cutting unit back in place on top of the waste bin. Plug the unit back in and turn the power back on to the unit. Insert a piece of paper into the shredder to be sure it is working normally.

If the motor is not operating properly, or if the unit overheats regularly or is emitting a burning smell, unplug the shredder immediately and consult your warranty information. The manufacturer should cover motor issues for at least one year from the date of purchase.
