Instructions

    • 1

Disconnect the dryer from the utilities. For an electric dryer, you can simply unplug it. For a gas dryer, have a technician disconnect it and cap off the gas.

    • 2

Tape electrical cords or gas lines to the back of the dryer with duct table. This will keep them out of the way and safe from harm during the move.

    • 3

Clean the lint screen and wipe off the exterior of the dryer.

    • 4

Secure the dryer door. Avoid using tape, as this could leave a sticky residue on the dryer's finish. Instead, use shrink-wrap around the dryer, or tear a long strip from an old sheet, and tie it around the dryer to hold the door in place.

    • 5

Wrap a moving blanket, bubble wrap or cardboard around the dryer to prevent scratching during the move.

    • 6

Use an appliance dolly to transport the dryer to the vehicle. Fit the dolly under the dryer, and secure the dryer with the dolly straps.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can store pillows or blankets inside the dryer during your move.
