How to Fold a Non-Motorized Treadmill

Non-motorized treadmills are sustainable pieces of exercise equipment that take up very little space, are easy to use, and offer the same exercise benefits as motorized treadmills. TreadmillTalk also points out that manual treadmills not only save money over the long run, but also cost less to begin with, making them the obvious choice for thrifty exercisers. One thing that most non-motorized treadmill owners may wonder about is how to fold their treadmill to save even more space. Luckily, this is an exceedingly simple process that anyone can accomplish.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the treadmill manual to locate the release tabs on the front of the treadmill incline. These tabs hold the treadmill in its upright position and need to be released in order to fold the treadmill.

    • 2

Make sure that there are no items located on the treadmill display stand, such as water bottles, towels or headsets, which could get tangled in the treadmill belt. Unplug any and all electrical connections from the display to an outlet.

    • 3

Flip the release tabs on the front of the treadmill and place your hands under each side of the treadmill belt at the rear of the incline. Lift up and forward firmly, folding the incline toward the treadmill hand rails.

    • 4

Wheel or carry the folded treadmill wherever you desire. Simply release the tabs at the front of the incline and slowly let the incline down in the treadmill's new location.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you will be storing your treadmill in the folded position, it is safest to lay it down and slide it beneath something, like a bed. This will avoid the possibility of the treadmill tipping over and falling on someone or something.
