Although the iPod first started out as a handy tool for listening to music, Apple has expanded its popular line of portable devices to include video capabilities as well. If you have an iPod that can display videos, you can easily use Apple's iTunes program and its native store to purchase a wide variety of your favorite movies, TV shows and music videos. By simply syncing your iPod with your iTunes library, you can easily watch your shows directly on your iPod anytime and anywhere.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Apple iPod with video capabilities
  • USB iPod connector
  • Apple iTunes program
  1. Step 1

Open iTunes. In the left navigation pane, select "iTunes Store".

  2. Step 2

Click the "Sign in" button located on the top-right corner of the main screen. Sign on to your Apple account. If you do not have an Apple account, you will need to create one in order to purchase and download shows from the iTunes store. Provide your email address and create a password for your account. You will need to provide billing information so that Apple can automatically charge you for your purchases. Apple accepts all major credit cards as well as PayPal.

  3. Step 3

Browse through the iTunes store for the video you want to purchase. The store sells music videos, TV and sports shows in standard and high definition, and also sells and rents full-length movies. Once you have decided on the show you want to watch, click the "Purchase now" button next to the show title. Apple will immediately charge you through the billing information you provided for your account and your show will immediately start downloading to your iTunes library.

  4. Step 4

Connect your iPod to your computer through its USB connector cable. You should see your iPod appear in the left navigation panel of iTunes under the "Devices" section. Select your iPod icon.

  5. Step 5

Your iPod settings should appear on the main screen of iTunes. If you downloaded a movie, click the "Movies" tab. If you downloaded a TV show, click the "TV Shows" tab.

  6. Step 6

Check off and select the shows you downloaded that you want to put on to your iPod. Click the "Sync" button located at the bottom right corner of the main screen.

  7. Step 7

Wait until all of the shows have synced to your iPod before closing the iTunes program and disconnecting your iPod from your computer.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you really enjoy a TV show and plan on watching all of the episodes through iTunes, it is more cost-effective for you to purchase a season pass for the show rather than buying each episode every week. Season pass buttons are located just under the title of a show in the iTunes store.
