How to Build a Skateboard Grind Box

A grind box simulates a ledge you might find in the natural skating environment. This grind box will be 6 feet long, 14 inches tall, and 2 feet wide. You can adjust these plans to suit any size you want.

  • Sheet of plywood
  • Angle iron
  • 2-by-4s
  • Screws
  • Drill

Instructions

      Cut the plywood into a 6-foot-by-2-foot rectangle and and a 6-foot-by-14-foot rectangle.

      Using 2-by-4s, make two 6-foot-by-2-foot frames.

      Add 2-by-4 support beams every 12 inches to 16 inches across one frame.

      Cut 2-by-4s into six legs at the desired height--in this case 14 inches.

      Attach the legs to the two frames at the four corners and in the middle on each side.

      Attach plywood to top (with the support beams) and side.

      Drill holes in the top and side of the angle iron.

      Screw angle iron to the edge of the grind box where the two sheets of plywood meet.

Tips & Warnings

  • Countersink the screws in the angle iron to insure a smooth and safe grind.

  • Use caution and wear proper safety equipment when operating power tools.
