How to Open a Bank Account on Chexsystems
Chex Systems, Inc. is a consumer reporting agency used by banks in the United States to check if individuals trying to apply for a new checking account have a history of issuing bad checks. If you are listed in Chex Systems, you might find it difficult to open a new account with a bank that uses this agency. By employing all the necessary methods, you can easily open a bank account even if you have been reported to Chex Systems.

1
Create a list of all the banks and credit unions in your area. List down smaller banks first since their requirements for new accounts are not as strict as the large chain banks.
-
2
Call the banks in your list and ask to speak to someone in charge of opening new accounts. Make sure you have your Social Security number and drivers license at hand since most banks can accept applications and verify information over the phone. You will be required to drop by and complete some paperwork if you are approved over the phone.

3
Tell the new accounts representative that you have been reported to Chex System and would like to open a new account. Some banks offer second chance accounts to those with negative Chex System reports. Note that second chance accounts have higher monthly fees and that your account must have money in it at all times. Continue to call the banks in your list until you can contact one that can offer you an account.

4
Contact and join a credit union in your area if the banks in your list do not offer accounts to individuals who are on the Chex System. Credit unions act as banks are very lenient when it comes to new accounts. However, to join a credit union, you must have to have a common bond with the members of the particular credit union. See Resources to find a credit union you are eligible to join and that you are comfortable with.

5
Apply for an online bank account. Online banks are as convenient as your local bank, especially if you have direct deposit. They are very lenient when it comes to new accounts. Most online banks verify new account using one or all of the three major credit agencies instead of Chex Systems. Online banks that cater to individuals listed in Chex Systems include RBC Bank and The Frost National Bank (See Resources).
