How to Change a Registration Name in XP

Registration name on a Windows XP-based computer can be changed by using the Registry Editor. Registry Editor allows you to change the settings of the Windows XP system registry that contains information about how your computer runs. Modifying the registry without a good understanding of its working is not recommended as incorrect changes can damage your system.

Instructions

    Change a Registration Name in XP

  1. Step 1

    Go to "Start" and click on "Run."

  2. Step 2

    Type "regedit" in the 'Open' box and then click on "OK."

  3. Step 3

    Click on the '+' sign next to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" to expand it.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the '+' sign next to "SOFTWARE" to expand it.

  5. Step 5

    Click on the '+' sign next to "Microsoft" to expand it.

  6. Step 6

    Click on the '+' sign next to "Windows NT" to expand it.

  7. Step 7

    Click on "CurrentVersion."

  8. Step 8

    Double-click on "RegisteredOrganization" in the right pane to change the company name.

  9. Step 9

    Type the new name in the "Value data" box and then click on "OK."

  10. Step 10

    Double-click on "RegisteredOwner" in the right pane to change the owner name.

  11. Step 11

    Type the new name in the "Value data" box and then click on "OK."
