Step 1
Let your fingers do the walking: Most phone books have a "blue pages," or Government Section that includes information about contacting local (City/County/Regional), state and federal government offices and often voter registration information. This includes lists of representatives, office locations, phone numbers and in many cases, websites.
-
Step 2
Search the web: Your state's representative in federal government can contacted through "Write your Representative," a U.S. House of Representatives search tool: https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml. The instructions are simple: select your state, enter your zip code and click the "contact my representative" button.
-
Step 3
Visit their local office: Links to individual representatives' websites, which contain local contact information, are also available at www.house.gov.
-
Step 4
Don't just find them, find out more about them: Project Vote Smart's website [votesmart.org] has a fairly easy-to-use search system that gives you access to Biographical Information, Voting Records, Issue Positions, Interest Group Ratings, Public Statements and information about Campaign Finances for ALL elected officials in your area. This site is also searchable by zip code.
