How to Make Weights for Helium Balloons

Weighted helium balloons make ideal table centerpieces for parties or other special occasions. You can find balloons in a variety of colors and designs that coordinate with just about any party theme. Without being weighted, helium balloons can blow around in a room or float off into the sky if used outdoors. To keep helium balloons in place, you will need to create attractive balloon weights.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill Mylar gift bags with Hershey's kisses, leaving approximately 2 to 3 inches of free space at the tops of the bags.

    • 2

Gather each bag opening together and tie with curling ribbon. You may leave ribbon tails on your knot, if desired. The tails can be curled using scissors to give the balloon weights a fancy look.

    • 3

Tie another piece of ribbon to a helium balloon. Tie the free end of ribbon around a balloon weight. The Mylar bag of Hershey's kisses will keep the balloon in place on each table. As an added bonus, guests can take home the balloons with the weights attached and enjoy the candy surprise inside the weight.
