The primary purpose of nail glue is to bond artificial nails as well as reinforce natural fingernails. It is a strong adhesive that can last for weeks if given the chance. You can also mishandle nail glue fairly easily when you are applying it, and it can often spill onto household surfaces such as a finished table. The glue may seem difficult to remove, but a simple household remedy can soften the glue rather easily.
Things You'll Need
- Nail polish remover
- Cotton ball
- Plastic scraper
- Household cleaner
Open a window near your workspace to ventilate the room before using the nail polish remover. This is a precaution against harmful fumes emitted from the acetone.
Dampen a cotton ball with a small amount of nail polish remover, but do not soak it.
Dab the spot of nail glue lightly with the acetone until the residue has loosened. Be careful not to get any on the unaffected areas of the surface.
Lift the glue using a safe, straight edge such as a plastic scraper or an old credit card. Wipe the glue from the finished table using a dry cloth.
Wipe the surface of the table with an appropriate household cleaner for a thorough removal of any remaining film or acetone.
