IF YOU WANT TO GIVE YOUR HAND AT TRYING TO PAINT AND DRAW ABSTRACT ARE A GREAT WAY TO START.

JUST ABOUT ANYTHING GOES, SO GIVE IT GO

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • CANVAS
  • PRACTICE CANVAS OR CARDBOARD
  • PAINTS
  • BRUSH
  1. Step 1

MAKE AN ABSTRACT OF A SUNFLOWER

    1. THIS IS ONE OF THE EASY FLOWERS TO CREATE IN ABSTRACT.
    2. Practice on old wood, cardboard, or paint over old canvas
    3. Make an idea on paper what you want the sunflower to look like.
    4. Create a color idea, to be able to give yourself a start.
    5. You can change the colors as you go, it is your abstract, so do what ever comes to you.

  2. Step 2

HOW TO GET STARTED WITH THE ACTUALLY WORK.

    1. In the picture above, I started with a colored background. You can use any paint that you wish. Start with cheap OOPS paint from home builders supplies.
    2. Choose that first, then add your other colors as you go.
    3. Work on the inside of the sunflower center.
    4. The colors I chose were to be intense, as the center of a blooming sunflower, is all in the center.
    5. Add colors to that center. Remember, what ever color you choose, you don't have to stick to.
    6. When it dries, you can paint over it.

  3. Step 3

MAKE A LARGE OUTLINE OF THE LEAVES

    1. Remember, this is an abstract, so it can be centered, or oblong, or square. Your choices.
    2. The outline can be made with large or thin brush strokes.
    3. You could even use a marks-a-lot to put in the details of the petals.
    4. Earlier on, you could even use the markers to make the detail of the inside of the petals.
    5. It is all your choose, and there is no right way or wrong way.
    6. Some colors may appeal to you more, so stick with them. You can veer to the far left, if you prefer to use Strange Colors.
