How to Holiday Mashed Potaoes

Everybody has eaten a holiday meal that included mashed potatoes. Her is a simple and delicious mashed potato recipe to serve at your next get together or holiday. These mashed potatoes can be served with gravy or eaten plain. So enjoy this easy recipe.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 5 lb. Potatoes
  • 1/3 cup Sour Cream
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 4 T. Butter
  • 2 pinches Salt
  • 2 Pinches Pepper
  1. Step 1

    Start by filling a large pot with water. Start peeling your potatoes.

  2. Step 2

    Cut your potatoes in half length ways and spin potato and cut length ways again. Cut each 1/4 into large chunks equal in size and place in pot of water. Continue peeling, quartering and cutting the potatoes into chunks till all potatoes are in the pot.

  3. Step 3

    Place pot on the stove. Add a dash of salt and boil over medium-high for 30-40 minutes.

    Hint: poke the potatoes with a fork to check to see if potatoes a done. The fork will have little resistance when potatoes a ready.

  4. Step 4

    Drain potatoes into a strainer. After drained place potatoes in a large bowl.

  5. Step 5

    Add your milk, butter salt and pepper to a small pot. Place on the stove over medium heat. heat till butter is melted.

  6. Step 6

    While milk and butter is heating. Start mashing the potatoes. You may use a potato masher or a stiff wire whip.

  7. Step 7

    Once your butter is melted in your milk, slowly add it to your potatoes. Add about a 1/4 of the milk and butter mixture at a time. Keep adding till all of the milk and butter has been used.

  8. Step 8

    Now you mixture should be nice and creamy. Add your sour cream and mix thoroughly. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.

  9. Step 9

    Place in a serving bowl and enjoy.
