How to Create a Chat Room Persona
The anonymity of the Internet has allowed people to create alter egos of various ages, backgrounds, lifestyles and even genders. Be creative with your chat room identity, but don't let anyone be taken in by your false persona.

1
Decide how much information you want to give in your profile and how truthful you want to be. Beware of providing too much personal information.
-
2
Access the profile editing function of the chat service you're using.
-
-
3
Enter your first name or make one up. It's best to leave out your last name. If you want to be really enticing, write something like "Ask me and I might tell you" in the Name field.
-
4
Enter your birth date, including a real or fake year. Again, you can create an air of mystery by leaving the year uncertain - for example, "10/26/19??."
-
5
Enter your location. Avoid providing any information more specific than your city.
-
6
Enter any hobbies you have that other users may want to chat with you about.
-
7
Add personal quotes that help to sum up your personality, or provide any other information that you want people to know about you (or your alter ego).
-
8
Chat with other users, remaining consistent with the identity you've created.

Tips & Warnings
If you plan on making up hobbies to impress people, do some research on them beforehand so you'll be able to fake your way through a conversation.
Your chat room profile is visible to all users of the chat service. Avoid giving out personal information like your full name, address, telephone number, Social Security number and Internet passwords.
Keep in mind that the anonymity of chat rooms applies to everyone and that the people you're chatting with may have embellished their own identities. Try not to get too involved with people you meet in chat rooms.
