So you're staring at those blue, glowing numbers that read 4:05am. You've been tossing and turning, staring at the ceiling. You can't shake the stressors of the day that have come to haunt you in the middle of the night. You may have insomnia! But you don't like taking medication to help you sleep as they make you feel groggy the next day. The following steps are some home remedies for insomnia that may help you get a better night's sleep.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • a clear mind
  • a gym (optional)
  • a positive fram of mind
  1. Step 1

Control your breathing when you're trying to sleep. The sound of your breath and a consistent rhythm can help you sleep. This home remedy for insomnia should help knock you out.

  2. Step 2

Strange as it sounds, try grinding four nutmegs into fine powder. Take the powder every night before hitting the sack.

  3. Step 3

Another one of the home remedies for insomnia is regular exercise during the day. If you're an insomniac, exercise will help you sleep. Avoid a lot of exercise at night; however, some light exercise before bedtime will assist you as you search for those elusive "Z's". Try some light Yoga exercises or some other form of stretching before bedtime.

  4. Step 4

Stir in some honey with a glass of milk. This concoction may help induce sleep for the insomniac. Hopefully this step combined with the above home remedies for insomnia should give you better rest during the night.

Tips & Warnings
  • Avoid caffeine
  • Don't bring work home with you
  • Insomnia could be the result of a serious or chronic disease.
  • Ingesting too much nutmeg could be harmful to your health. Consult a doctor or research online a safe amount to consume.
