How to Use Fake Tan Wipes

Getting a tan in the middle of winter can be difficult without fake tanning. Fake tan wipes are a relatively new invention as of 2009, and they have revolutionized the sunless tanning industry. People no longer have to rely on messy lotions to get bronzed skin. Instead, they can use a pre-treated towelette to tan their skin. Tanning beds are dangerous, and the sun can cause severe burns, so sunless tanning is the perfect option for those who desire bronzed skin.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    • Tanning wipes
    • Soap
    • Water
    • Towel
    • Loofah
    1. Tanning Wipes

      • 1

Take a shower, and exfoliate your skin with a loofah. Get rid of any dry skin areas to smooth the skin cells before applying any fake tanner. Dry spots on the skin will absorb more tanning lotion and become darker than the rest of your body.

      • 2

Purchase tanning wipes, which are pre-treated towelettes coated in DHA tanning lotion. DHA is harmless and simply dyes the top layer of skin cells brown.

      • 3

Start at your feet, and carefully wipe the towelettes over your skin, coating each area evenly. Work your way up your body, and cover every area that you want to tan with lotion.

      • 4

Wash your palms with soap and water, and dry off with a towel. If you forget this step, your palms will turn orange. Also, scrub your nails because the lotion can get trapped underneath them and turn them dark brown.

      • 5

Repeat Steps 3 and 4 after 24 hours to get a deeper tan. Each application will darken your skin further. Your sunless tan will last about a week if you don't exfoliate your skin. Moisturize with regular lotion in between applications to keep your skin from drying out and flaking off.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Don't apply too much lotion to your knees and elbows because they can become darker than the rest of your body.

    • More than three consecutive applications with tanning wipes can cause your fake tan to look orange instead of brown.
