How to Recover Lost Copy & Paste Files

Set up all of your documents for fast recovery and you will be well prepared to recover a file that is accidentally lost or overwritten. Even copy and paste documents are not immune to such unwelcome events as these. For example, anyone could copy and paste one of her files to be used as a format for creating a new template, save it and then inadvertently delete it. When a simple search turns up empty, try these steps to recover the lost copy and paste file gone astray.

Instructions

1. Click "Start" and then click "Control Panel."

2. Select category "Performance and Maintenance" and then click the task "Backup Your Data."

3. Select "Restore Files and Settings" and then click "Next."

4. Check the files needed in the "Items to Restore" list box, and when finished, click "Close."

Tips & Warnings

• Whenever possible, apply the necessary settings to automatically back up those files you create. To do this in Microsoft Word, choose "Tools" from the toolbar menu. Next, choose "Options" and then go to the "Save" tab and check the box next to "Always Create Backup Copy." These steps apply to Windows XP OS.
