1
Avoid scratching the itchy skin. While it provides temporary relief, it does not actually stop the itch, and can make the irritation worse.
-
2
Take a warm, but not hot, shower every day to help reduce itching. This also will help reduce the dry skin that results from the eczema and leads to itching.
-
-
3
Use hypoallergenic soap when cleaning the problem areas.
-
4
Wear loose clothing when you are suffering from an outbreak of eczema. Tight clothing can rub against and irritate the skin, causing it to itch.
-
5
Avoid physical activities that may lead to sweating during an outbreak because sweating increases the itching.
-
6
Apply an anti-itching cream to any areas in which the itching is unbearable and you are finding it difficult to avoid scratching.
-
7
Take diphenhydramine pills, such as Benadryl. The drug will help prevent itching as a result of the eczema.
