How to Make Healthy, Spicy Oven Fries
Everyone loves french fries, but who loves all that fat? You can make healthy oven fries with a kick that carry far fewer calories than the typical deep-fried varieties you get from fast food restaurants or out of a bag. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 5 or 6 medium sized baking potatoes (a little bigger than the size of your fist)
- Olive oil
- Dried chili powder
- Salt
- Paprika
- Powdered, dried garlic
- Dried parsley
- Dried thyme

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

Wash the potatoes and make sure to remove any eyes or rotted spots with a knife before you cut them into wedges. The thickness of the wedges depends on your personal preference, but thicker wedges will take slightly longer to cook. Wedges should be 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick.

Place the potatoes in a large mixing bowl or resealable plastic bag. Drizzle olive oil over the potatoes; just enough to provide a light coating.

In a separate bowl, mix together the spices and salt. Add the spice mixture a bit at a time, until the potatoes are evenly coated (you may not need to use all of the spice mixture).

On a nonstick baking sheet or a baking sheet covered with parchment paper, pour the potatoes and arrange them in a single layer. Cook at 400 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, depending on the desired crispness. Flip the potatoes after 10 to 15 minutes.
