Stop Night Sweats

There are many things that you can do to stop night sweats and prevent yourself from waking up in a puddle of wetness. There are certain medical conditions that cause night sweats and must be treated by a physician, but sometimes the cause of night sweats is a simple and non-medical. Listed below are a number of steps that you can go through to try and alleviate your night sweats for good if they are aren't being caused by a specific disease or condition.

Instructions

    • 1

Limit the amount of blankets that you sleep with. Too many blankets will cause your body to retain an excess amount of heat during the night in turn causing you to sweat more than usual. Try sleeping with the minimum about of blankets that you require to stay warm.

    • 2

Keep the temperature of your room cool. If your room is too hot you can wind up sweating throughout the night due a heightened body temperature. Take a moment to close some of the vents in your room that put out heat or lower the temperature of the furnace in your house.

    • 3

Don't wear extra layers of clothing to bed. While it may feel comfortable in the beginning, extra padding or layers can trap too much body heat and contribute to additional sweating during the night. Instead, wear something light and cool to bed that allows your body to vent itself while you are asleep.

    • 4

Make sure that you have breathable sheets on your bed. Allergen barriers or plastic mattress protectors do a great job of protecting your mattress but don't allow your skin to breathe when it is pressed against them. Install a set of quality cotton sheets on your bed and don't use any extra barriers or layers under them that might stick to your skin during the night.

    • 5

Try calming your nerves and taking care of any excess stress in your life. Often times night sweats can be caused by an excess amount of anxiety or stress, so it's important to keep your life as stress free and worry free as possible.
